The district is standing behind these books because they have “Literary Prizes” and “Awards” behind them.  Don't allow that to fool you, the only thing that literary awards do is elevate certain books because of the publishing house's marketing power or reputation. There is a lot of money and influence in the literary world; these award bodies or organizations have financial or other kinds of backroom deals with publishing houses.  If an award is seen as prestigious and carries weight, the publishing houses are going to leverage that for their own benefit—and leads to those "kickbacks" or mutual arrangements.

American Library Association's (ALA) library networks and partnerships with publishers do create certain "conduits" for books to get into the hands of librarians and educators, and these can influence what books get pushed into the mainstream. ALA has its hands in many aspects of what gets promoted in the literary world, especially within educational and public library systems.

Media clerks do your jobs. It shouldn’t be left up to citizens to continue to weed out the books. We should be able to trust our children in our school libraries and classrooms. Hopefully the district will do their job and clean up the libraires.

Media clerks are the original lawbreakers by putting these books in the hands of children. Since Ron Roberts and the Board of Education does nothing to protect children from sexually explicit books, it's time to expose the media clerks and report them to the Clinton Township Police Department and Macomb County Sheriff Department.
